Visiting Professor of Literacy Education


The School of Education of the University of Bridgeport is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Literacy Education. Required qualifications include an earned doctorate degree in literacy education or a related field, at least three years experience in elementary schools, an active research agenda, commitment to work in diverse settings with an emphasis on urban environment, evidence of teaching (peer reviews of teaching, student evaluations, syllabi, etc.), and good communication skills. The appointee will teach elementary developmental reading, language arts, and early literacy education courses in the graduate education program, work collaboratively with colleagues during the accreditation process, and develop and maintain collaborative relationships with local schools. A specific emphasis will be placed on preparation of candidates for state reading assessments.

This is a one year renewable appointment beginning in the Fall 2011 semester. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
