PS 79 in Whitestone, NY is in need of four teachers for school opening in September: one 5th Grade general education teacher; one 4th grade special education teacher for an integrated co-teaching class (ICT); one ELL teacher for the K-5 push-in/pull-out program; and possibly one kindergarten teacher. PS 79, with a student population of 845 culturally diverse students, an actively involved parent body, and a terrific staff, is a TCRWP school with strong inquiry teams that focus on writing and reading across the day as well as math problem-solving. The school has two new computer labs, one used exclusively for teacher/student projects, plus 31 SMART Boards in almost every classroom. The school just re-opened the fully automated library which is the hub of the building and features a new dance studio. Staff actively work with the PTA to infuse the arts across the curriculum.
