We do not provide breakfast, lunch or dinner for participants during the summer institutes. In the Trail Guide (Institute's Daily Schedule), we publish a list of restaurants in the nearby area so that participants are able to plan their meals. This year, in an effort to further assist you, we decided to provide this list of some of our staff's favorites so that you can plan to get the best of what the UWS has to offer by way of cuisine, beforehand. We hope it helps.
A quick word about location. Many of these restaurants are located on the UWS of Manhattan, but not close enough to campus to visit during your lunch break. The restaurants listed first and *starred* are walkable from Teachers College and open during your breaks. As always, Teachers College cafeteria, located in the basement level of Grace Dodge, will be open throughout the summer.
Lastly, and probably most importantly, for your morning cup-of-joe, there is a coffee cart located on the south side of 120th Street (across the street from Teachers College). There is also a Starbucks coffee located in Teachers College, outside of Gottesman Library, on the ground floor. The latter opens around 8:30am daily.
